Spherical anvil micrometers are especially useful in measuring the wall thickness of small parts such as sleeves, collars, tubing’s and various cylindrical workpieces. They are also used to measure dimensions from the inside of holes to outside edges. The spherical anvil contacts the inside curved surface providing a single point contact and permitting accurate gaging of the wall thickness to 0.0001in.
